  • A relation gives a connection between two objects, creating a sentence, e.g., < or 2 < 5. A sentence that is either true or false, not both, is a statement. Something like x + 4 = 6 is not a statement bc its neither true nor false.
  • Operations produce objects, such as a number or a set, e.g. + or 5 + 2 — this isn’t a sentence because where is the relation? There needs to be = 7.
